Realme recently launched its third Android smartphone in the Indian market, the Realme 2 Pro. Just like the Realme 2 and Realme 1 smartphones before it, the Realme 2 Pro offers fantastic value and is a great option for anyone looking to buy a new smartphone that offers a stunning design and a powerful hardware.
The Realme 2 Pro price in India starts at just Rs.13,990 for the base variant with 4GB RAM + 32GB storage and goes up to Rs.17,990 for the top-end configuration with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Launched in India as a Flipkart-exclusive, the smartphone is set to go on sale in the country for the first time on October 11. So before you decide to buy this phone, here are the top 5 features you need to consider:
The Realme 2 Pro is the most affordable smartphone in India to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 660 AIE octa-core processor. While Qualcomm has already introduced a successor to the Snapdragon 660, it still remains one of the most impressive mid-range mobile chipsets out there. Manufactured on a 14nm process, the Snapdragon 660 AIE is clocked at up to 2.2GHz with an Adreno 512 GPU taking care of the graphics processing. It also features Qualcomm’s AI Engine to power AI-backed features. The only other budget Android smartphones powered by the same chipset below Rs.20,000 currently are the Xiaomi Mi A2 and the Vivo V9 Pro.
Realme 2 Pro: Hands-on, First Impressions
The Realme 2 Pro comes with a 6.3-inch IPS LCD display with a Dewdrop notch at the top, similar to the OPPO F9 and F9 Pro smartphones. Thanks to the Dewdrop notch design, the Realme 2 Pro boasts an incredible 90.8% screen-to-body ratio. That’s higher than pretty much all of its rivals and is in fact close to the screen-to-body ratio of flagship smartphones such as the Vivo NEX. The display panel offers 1080 x 2340 Full HD+ resolution and a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. Protecting the layer is a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass to help with the durability aspect.
The Realme 2 Pro is not only the most affordable Android smartphone to run on Qualcomm’s powerful Snapdragon 660 processor but is also the only smartphone priced below Rs.20,000 to feature 8GB of RAM. The top-end variant of the Realme 2 Pro packs 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. With 8GB of RAM, the Realme 2 Pro will be capable of delivering a smooth multitasking experience to users. Another highlight of the 8GB RAM variant of the smartphone is that it packs 128GB of UFS 2.1 storage, which offers significantly faster transfer speeds when compared to eMMC storage that other budget Android smartphones come with.
The Realme 2 Pro features a dual-camera setup with a 16MP Sony IMX398 primary sensor and a 2MP secondary sensor for depth-sensing. The primary 16MP sensor features Dual Pixel technology for fast focus speeds, electronic image stabilization, and a 6P f/1.7 aperture lens. Unlike some of its rivals, the Realme 2 Pro is capable of shooting videos at up to 4K Ultra HD resolution. It can also shoot 1080p Full HD resolution videos at up to 60fps. Some of the other key camera features include five modes of portrait lighting and 16 AI scenes. The 16MP AI selfie camera on the Realme 2 Pro is also quite impressive with 296 recognition spots, AR Music Stickers, and an AI-powered beautification mode.
