On September 7, Larry Stewart of the acclaimed country group Restless Heart released his new solo album „Shifting Gears.“
This musical effort was recorded in between his Restless Heart tour dates, as the group is celebrating their 35th anniversary tour. It was produced by Grammy-winning songwriter Gordon Kennedy, who has worked with such artists as Carrie Underwood, Garth Brooks, and Eric Clapton. Five of the songs on this project were co-penned by Stewart.
It opens with the lead single „What’s That Cowgirl See in Me?“ and he picks up the pace with the upbeat „Ain’t Done Man,“ and displays his baritone voice on „Behind Closed Doors.“
Equally fun and radio-friendly is „If It Wasn’t for the Radio“ and he tugs at the heart on the power-ballad „Should’ve Run out of Angels,“ which he co-wrote with Josh Osborne and Trevor Rosen from the hit country group Old Dominion. He shows his sassy side on „Where the White Line Goes“ and he slows down the tempo on the harking ballad „Cry.“
Long Island country songstress Lisa Matassa lends her crystalline voice on the duet „Compared to Goodbye,“ which is simply glorious. One of the standout songs on the album for sure. His CD closes with the mid-tempo „Trains“ and „Victim of Love.“
Shifting Gears is available on iTunes. It is a solid album, and it is worth more than just a passing glance. Fans of the band Restless Heart, traditional country music, and Larry Stewart will certainly enjoy this new collection of country songs.
