CHICAGO (AP) – The Latest on an anti-violence protest near Chicago ’s O’Hare International Airport (all times local):

Police arrested a dozen participants of an anti-violence protest on Labor Day that tried and ultimately failed to shut down an expressway that leads to Chicago ’s O’Hare International Airport.
Live TV reports Monday showed Illinois State Police troopers also arresting the main organizer of the protest, the Rev. Gregory Livingston.
State police told the Chicago Tribune that a dozen people were arrested, handed $120 citations and then released.
Several dozen people took part in the protest. Livingston and the others were arrested after troopers warned them to get off a ramp leading to Interstate 90, also known as the Kennedy Expressway. Some demonstrators chanted in response, “Ain’t nobody going to turn us around.”

Police have arrested the organizer of an anti-violence protest that aimed to shut down part of an expressway near Chicago ’s O’Hare International Airport on Labor Day .
Illinois State Police troopers blocked the protesters’ access to Interstate 90, also known as the Kennedy Expressway, and no protesters appeared to reach it. The protesters had planned to march westbound on the interstate for about a mile.
Live TV reports Monday showed the Rev. Gregory Livingston speaking calmly to a trooper, who explained he would be arrested if he didn’t leave an area near the expressway. Livingston politely said, “Arrest me,” before being led away.
Several dozen protesters gathered at the scene. Some carried signs that read, “End State-Sanctioned Violence.” Others called on Chicago ’s mayor to resign, chanting, “Hey, hey. Ho, ho. Rahm Emanuel has got to go!”

The Rev. Gregory Livingston says Monday’s march is aimed at drawing attention to protesters’ demands, which include more investment in neighborhoods where the bulk of Chicago ’s shootings occur. Livingston also wants Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel to resign and says community members should have a role in renegotiation of the police union’s contract.
Protesters are expected to gather around 11:30 a.m. at the Cumberland Avenue exit to Interstate 90, also known as the Kennedy Expressway. They plan to march westbound on the expressway for about a mile.
Livingston also organized a protest that briefly shut down Lake Shore Drive on Chicago ’s North Side last month.
