Now that Apple is done with unveiling its latest line-up, the buzz has now shifted to how they will be received among the masses.
According to a report by 9to5Mac, Apple tipster and former KGI Securities analyst Ming Chi-Kuo, the shipments of new iPhone models will grow slightly year-on-year to 75-80 million units for the remainder of the year, even though the iPhone XS pre-orders are ‘lacklustre’, but believes in the strength of XS Max demand and the iPhone XR launch in October. As for the latest Watch, they expect shipments to reach 18 million units in 2018. Kuo estimates that the bigger screen iPhone XS Max will make up about 30% of new iPhone shipments.
The report further said that due to the ‘innovative functions’ like the electrocardiogram, the demand for Apple Watch Series 4 is better than its initial expectations. The report said, „the TF Industries are raising estimates for Apple Watch Series 4, with the new models taking about 55% share, alongside the cheaper Series 3 watches.“
Coming back to iPhones, Kuo predicts that the reception of iPhone XS Max in China is strong. This is courtesy the gold case, larger screen and the addition of dual-SIM capabilities.
The third and the cheapest iPhone, iPhone XR, has the most optimistic feedback. „They expect the (iPhone) XR to makeup the majority of shipments, between 55-60% of sales. However, they see weaker demand for the 5.8-inch (iPhone) XS, which is reflected in the general availability of (iPhone) XS models on the Apple Store.“
