Apple’s new fee schedule for screen repair for its phones show that it costs less to have an iPhone Xr screen fixed than the iPhone X, while the price is slightly close to that of the iPhone 8 Plus.
Apple has announced today the repair costs for the iPhone Xr a few days after pre-orders for the phone opened. The updated pricing document reveals that screen and „other damage“ repairs for the device cost lower than its more premium siblings, the iPhone Xs and Xs Max, and the older iPhone X.
According to the fee schedule, a damaged iPhone Xr screen will set you back $199 to repair while other damages are pegged at $399. For comparison, screen repairs cost $329 for the iPhone Xs Max, $279 for the iPhone X and iPhone Xs, and $169 for the iPhone 8 Plus. Fees for other damages to the iPhone Xs Max, Xs, and X are set north of $500 and $399 for the iPhone Xr, similar to that of the iPhone 8 Plus.
Keep in mind that the above screen repair prices apply to devices that are damaged accidentally or not covered by Apple’s warranty. The same fees also apply if an iPhone screen gets damaged without an AppleCare+ coverage even if it’s still under warranty or stops working without the Apple warranty, consumer law, or AppleCare+ coverage.
Meanwhile, Apple screen repairs with AppleCare+ coverage remain at $29 and $99 for other damages, so it might be wise to purchase the AppleCare+ warranty now since it covers accidental damages that may befall your phone.
