The Google tablet will officially be called the Google Pixel Slate.
Only a day more to go for the Google’s big hardware event that is set to take place in New York City on October 9. The event will see several major launches including the Pixel 3, the Pixel 3 XL, the Pixel Mini and the Chrome OS tablet.
While there have been a lot of rumours and leaks about the 2018 Pixel phones, the information on the up and coming Google tablet has been scarce. But now full images of the device have been shared by MySmartPrice that reveal a lot about the tablet.
The Google tablet will officially be called the Google Pixel Slate. The tablet will sport a Pixelbook-like 3:2 touchscreen display with a capacitive stylus support and a detachable keyboard. The Pixel Slate which may be internally codenamed Nocturne will be a 2-in-1 device which means it can be used as a tablet along with a support for detachable keyboard that can be used to access it like a laptop.
The leaked images reveal that the tablet will run Google Chrome OS making it the first Google Chrome OS tablet. The images show off pogo-pin connectors which means it will support a detachable keyboard. The keyboard has a large touchpad and chunky round-shaped keys with a dedicated key for accessing Google Assistant. Thick bezels can be seen around the display along with front-facing single camera, stereo speakers and a rear camera. The presence f USB Type-C port suggests that it may be a thin tablet. The Slate will come in dark blue colour.
The rumours in the past have it that the up and coming Google Pixel Slate will come with dual-boot support along with the Intel’s Amber Lake family of processors and up to 16GB of RAM. The leaked images do not reveal anything on the camera specs but reportedly the Pixel Slate is expected to come with high-quality camera specs. Reportedly, Google is also planning to add the Pixel camera app into the Slate to help it shoot Pixel phones-like bokeh shots. Biometric authentication is also rumoured for the device.
