Supergirl is back to protect National City as the DC superhero TV series enters Season 4 in October 2018. Here’s how you can watch Supergirl in the UK, catch up on previous episodes, and learn more about what action could unfold over the coming months.
In the US, where it is broadcast on The CW, the first episode of Supergirl Season 4 airs on 14 October 2018 at 8/7c.
In the UK Supergirl Season 4 will begin at 8pm on Monday 22 October, and will broadcast on Sky One.

An alternative is to watch Supergirl on YouTube, where single episodes cost £1.99 and you can get a full season from £20.99.
Season 3 saw Supergirl and friends emerge victorious over the world killers, but fans were left wondering where the series would go next as J’onn (David Harewood) stepped down from the DEO and new Director Alex (Chyler Leigh) was visibly torn between her job and desire to become a mother. J’onn will still feature in the show, and the actor has teased that he may even find love.
Kara (Melissa Benoist) has confirmed that the new season will be based on a comic book called the Red Son, and that it will explore the idea of nature versus nurture as Kara’s doppelganger shows up in Siberia. The Red Son is an alternative storyline for Superman that shows him brought up as a Soviet hero rather than Superman as we know him.
The Guardian (Mehcad Brooks) will also return in Season 4, and now with his secret exposed the show will explore how the idea of a black, non-alien superhero is met by National City. His girlfriend, Lena Luther (Katie McGrath) continues the good work she put in during Season 3, developing technologies she thinks will help the world.
We’ve lost Mon-El (Chris Wood), Sam (Odette Annable), and at least temporarily Winn (Jeremy Jordan), but Brainiac-5 (Jesse Rath) will step into his shoes at the new DEO tech wizard, struggling to come to terms with life in the 21st century.
All the best superheroes seem to start out as reporters, and so it will be for ‚Dreamer‘. Starting Season 4 as a new reporter at CatCo, we follow the journey of Nia Nal, played by Nicole Maines, as she becomes TV’s first transgender superhero, able to see into the future. The journalists at CatCo will band together to take on human-first hate group Children of Liberty.
Other new characters will include Agent Liberty (Sam Witwer) as the leader of Children Of Liberty, Manchester Black (David Ajala), Colonel Haley (April Parker Jones), and Mercy (Rhona Mitra) and Otis Graves (Robert Baker).
This season’s ArrowVerse crossover will take place in Gotham City, where we meet Batwoman Kate Kane (Ruby Rose), and will also include Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) and Lois Lane (Elizabeth Tulloch).

Can life get any more complicated for Supergirl in Season 3? Having found the lover she spent many episodes mourning and discovering not all of Krypton is gone after all, she discovers one has a new bride and the other links to a trio of world killers.
Elsewhere Kara is called in yet again to clear Lena’s name, but recent events leave the pair’s once strong friendship hanging by a thread. It’s not the only friendship she should be doubting either, as the team rallies round to save newcomer Sam from Reign.
Supergirl teams up with her cousin, Superman, at the start of Season 2, but it’s not long before the city is turning on its alien residents: first the superhero is targeted with kryptonite by Cadmus, led by Lena’s mother, and later finds herself with a bounty placed on her head.
It’s not all doom and gloom as Kara and Alex’s father is rescued from Cadmus, though new boyfriend Mon-El isn’t so sure everything is as it seems. Kara also finds an unexpected aid in The Guardian.
Sent to Earth to protect her baby cousin Superman, Kara Zor-El’s pod was thrown off course. When she eventually arrived he had already grown up, so instead she settled into family life with the Danvers.
Under the guise of Kara Danvers and now as an adult, Supergirl begins to embrace her superpowers for good, making the decision to protect National City from all who would wrong its citizens. She’s off to a rocky start, though, as her efforts to help do more harm than good.
Season one introduces key characters including her sister Alex and fellow DEO agent J’onn, colleagues Winn and Jimmy (James Olsen), and new boss Cat. Kara struggles to balance life as a superhero with her day job, especially when faced with her first real threat: Auntie Astra and her hubby Non.
