Matt Patricia has lost more in his first 11 games as Detroit Lions head coach than he did in any of his 14 seasons with the New England Patriots.
And on Friday, Patricia said his biggest disappointment with the Lions‘ 4-7 record is that he hasn’t been able to do more to keep his team from sinking to the bottom of the NFC North standings.
„I feel bad and horrible and it grinds on me and it just drives me to try to just do more or whatever I can to get us in the right spot,“ Patricia said.
The Lions have lost four of their last five games heading into Sunday’s showdown with the 10-1 Los Angeles Rams, owners of the best record in the NFL.
They’ll be eliminated from the NFC North race with their next loss (or the Chicago Bears‘ next win), and their chances of making the postseason currently sit at 1 percent, according to FiveThirtyEight.com.
Patricia won three championships and coached in three more Super Bowls as an assistant with the Patriots, and New England won at least 10 games in all 14 of his seasons with the organization.
