You’ll need screws to assemble a lot of items in Fallout 76. Here’s the best places to farm screws and what junk items yield them.
In Fallout 76, screws are an important crafting item in many recipes. Unfortunately, they’re hard to come by in the quantities you need for some of the higher level blueprints. Because of this many players will want to spend time finding the best places to farm screws in Fallout 76. Fortunately, since items respawn in this game, there are a few places that are continuously useful for farming screws.
There are quite a few items that yield screws when you scrap them in Fallout 76. Tracking down these junk items is going to be your primary source of farming screws. The following junk items all yield screws:
(Note: These stats are from Fallout 4, but should be accurate for Fallout 76 as well.)
You can also get screws from scrapping these weapons:
(Note: Again, these figures are from Fallout 4, but from testing it seems they break down for the same amount of screws in Fallout 76)
Power armor also gives screws but is usually best kept instead of scrapped unless you just have a huge surplus of it.
So, now that you know the items you’re looking for, what’s the best way to farm them? Well, first you’re gonna want to do some preparation. You’ll want to get the Pack Rat Strength perk card which reduces the weight of all junk items you’re carrying and the Scrapper Intelligence perk card that will increase the number of components you get when scrapping weapons and armor. Grabbing these two perks will boost the number of screws you’re able to get at a time and make farming a lot easier.
Now that you know how to farm screws, we’ll tell you the best farming locations.
One of the easiest places to get to that is a good location for farming screws in Fallout 76 is the Whitespring Resort. In the hotel you can find a toy store that has toy cars and sometimes a Giddyup Buttercup sitting around for the taking, all of which yield screws.
The real hotspot for screws here, though, is the bunker. Inside you’ll usually find at least 5 desk fans. You can also head to the presidential cabin to find toy cars and a Giddyup Buttercup under a Christmas tree. From there you can go upstairs and get a few more toy cars in the child’s room.
For making the rounds here, you can get around 25-35 screws.
You can also find a ton of screws at the Sugar Grove complex in the Savage Divide. Inside is usually a minimum of 12 fans and 4 globes for a total of 28+ screws.
If farming screws from these two locations still didn’t yield enough for you, there’s always the option to buy them. In the Charleston Fire Department, you can buy screws from the vendor.
