Cass County Fire Department Lieutenant Steve Krispen said he’s never seen anything like Wednesday’s fire.
Six people, including two children, died early Wednesday morning after a massive fire broke out in their home.
Emergency dispatchers received a call about the fire around 1:50 a.m. EST, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office told WXIN. The sheriff’s deputies were the first to arrive on the scene, followed by the Cass County Fire Department, who arrived around 2 a.m. EST.
When first responders arrived, the Logansport, Indiana, house was already engulfed in flames and they were told there were multiple people trapped inside. Cass County Fire Department Lieutenant Steve Krispen said during an interview with WXIN that the home was already 80 percent involved with heavy fire.
A mother and adult son were rescued from the home and were transported to the hospital for treatment, but Krispen said he did not have information on the extent of the injuries sustained. Unfortunately, additional rescue efforts proved difficult.
