During a recent visit to Disney World in Orlando, Dion Cini rode Splash Mountain. As his picture was being taken, the New Yorker, who has held a Disney parks season pass for more than 20 years, held up a “Trump 2020” sign. He’s also wearing a red “Make America Great Again” hat.
After completing what Cini called #OperationFlagDrop on Facebook, he says he was handed a note and escorted off the grounds, according to Fox 35, and is now banned from all Disney World properties, including the theme parks, resorts and Disney Springs. The Orange County Sheriff’s Office said Cini trespassed and that his actions went against the park’s code of conduct.
Cini shard the image on Facebook, drawing a mixed reaction from the online community. “Not all heroes wear capes!” one supporter of Cini quipped. “People come to Disney to escape the world, not deal with some boomer a**hole on Splash Mountain blocking their view with a Trump sign,” one disapproving user wrote.
Cini was initially banned in September after he flew a “Re-Elect Trump” flag outside of the Main Street Railroad Station. However, after being warned to not violate the park’s policy regarding signs or banners again, Cini managed to get that first prohibition overturned.
“I wanted to actually abide by their rules, and not hold up a flag to incite a crowd, but I kind of wanted to test them,” he told WFTV . “I just really wanted to find out whether or not it had to do with unfurling a flag, or what was written on the flag.”
Walt Disney World visitors are prohibited from organizing “unauthorized events, demonstrations or speeches” and must refrain from “the usage of any flag, banner or sign for commercial purposes, or to incite a crowd.”
