OPPO launched the R17 Pro ( in pictures) earlier this year in China silently. The handset features waterdrop display, Qualcomm’s powerful Snapdragon 710 processor, and more as its highlight. The handset comes as the beefed-up variant of the OPPO R17 and has been speculated to launch in India soon. Now, the official Twitter handle of the brand has hinted that the launch might be sooner than we anticipated.
The brand has sent out a teaser video showing the side profile of the upcoming smartphone. The purple background, the pink side profile and the silhouette of the phone seen in the tease, all point to the R17 Pro with its gorgeous colour-shifting gradient on the rear panel. Further, the video file has the letter ‘R’ in it and the caption reads, “Stay tuned! Something new is coming up. # OPPO R-Series.” Don’t think we need anymore proof to assume that it’s indeed the R17 Pro that’s coming to the country.
The OPPO R17 Pro ships with a 6.4-inch display with a resolution of 2,340 x 1,080 pixels. The handset also happens to be one of the few options to come with a layer of Corning’s Gorilla Glass 6 on the display. Driving the performance of the smartphone is an octa-core 1.8GHz Snapdragon 710 SoC backed by Adreno 616 GPU and 8GB RAM. The triple camera module on the back comprises of 12MP + 20MP + TOF (time of flight) 3D sensors. For selfies, you get a 25-megapixel front-facing camera. Other features of the smartphone include Android 8.1 Oreo-based ColorOS 5.2, under-the-display fingerprint scanner, 3,700mAh battery with Super VOOC, 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi, NFC and GPS.
As of now, the Indian pricing and availability of the smartphone is under the wraps. In China, OPPO R17 Pro is priced at RMB 4,299 (~Rs 45,500).
