Realme is now planning to launch another budget smartphone in the Indian market dubbed as Realme U. As per the report, it is going to be a selfie-centric
After launching Realme 2 Pro and Realme C1, the smartphone maker is now planning to unveil yet another affordable phone in the Indian market. The upcoming smartphone will fall under a new U series lineup, especially, focussing on cameras. Realme U is going to be the company’s first selfie-centric device. With the U-series, the Shenzhen-based company intends to dominate the budget camera-centric space.
This report comes courtesy of 91 Mobiles. As per the report, the upcoming Realme U is going to arrive with the recently launched MediaTek Helio P70 processor. Since it is powered by Helio P70, we can expect great performance from the device. CEO Madhav Sheth had previously announced on Twitter that Realme would be the first brand to launch a device with this powerful chipset onboard. It seems like Realme U can, in fact, be the first smartphone to feature a MediaTek Helio P70 chipset. The report further confirms that it will be a selfie-centric handset, making U-series a dedicated lineup for such devices. Also, since the Realme 2 Pro features a teardrop notch, there is a high chance that the upcoming Realme U will follow a similar design.
Coming to the pricing and availability, Realme U is expected to arrive with a price lying somewhere between INR 10k-15k segment. Realme has already claimed itself to be a youth-focused brand, meaning it will likely continue to operate in the sub INR 20k segment. It is speculated that the brand will unveil the smartphone before the end of this month (November 2018). The brand has already launched three budget smartphones recently: the Realme 2, the Realme 2 Pro and the Realme C1. If the new device is indeed going to launch as early as this month, it is likely that more leaks and teasers will begin to come forward soon.
Apart from the chipset, Realme’s CEO Madhav Sheth also revealed a key aspect of its upcoming Realme smartphone previously. According to his tweet, one can expect VOOC fast charging in the coming device. If you’re not aware, Oppo’s proprietary VOOC fast charging offers incredibly fast charging times. The very same tech is found even on mid-range devices like Oppo F9 Pro. If the Realme U is indeed the next smartphone to be released by the Oppo sub-brand, then it might just be the next smartphone to come with this quick charging feature.
To recall, Realme debuted in the Indian market in May this year with the launch of Realme 1. Since then, it has launched a couple of devices focussing on the budget-segment. It has already received a solid response from critics as well as consumers. Realme devices are known for promising internals and well-built design at an affordable price tag, giving it a sharp edge over its competitors. On another note, the smartphone maker increased prices of two of its phones recently. It is largely due to the falling rate of the Indian currency and company’s thin margins. These two devices are Realme 2 and Realme C1. Realme 2 is now available with a price tag of INR 9,499 (earlier sold at INR 8,999), and Realme C1 price is raised from INR 6,999 to INR 7,999. The brand might also increase the rate of Realme 2 Pro after a couple of days.
