The weeks leading up to the Academy Awards are never short on controversy, and this year’s first batch of messy headlines came thanks to Kevin Hart — or, more specifically, his Twitter history. After the Academy made a late-stage announcement this week that Hart would host the 2019 ceremony (the host is typically secured further in advance), it didn’t take long for the internet to call out Hart’s past homophobic tweets, most of which date back to around 2011.
