Nokia 8.1 has been made official by HMD Global at an event it hosted in Dubai, ending weeks of speculation around the smartphone. The company says it has gone with the Nokia 8.1 moniker in order to simplify its naming convention and has launched the handset as the successor to the Nokia 7 that was launched last year. For those unaware, Nokia 8.1 is the global variant of the Nokia X7 smartphone that was unveiled in China mid-October. The Nokia 8.1 India launch is expected on December 11th.
HMD Global announced at the event the Nokia Phones Community, a forum for fans to communicate with the brand and give feedback on products and ideas that they would want to see materialise.
