Nominations for the 2019 British Academy Film Awards were announced today.

The awards season is well underway. The British Academy of Film and Television Arts, equivalent to the Oscars in the U. S., announced today the nominations for the 2019 EE British Academy Film Awards. The majority of the nominations are similar to the Golden Globes, with just a few differences here and there.
Yorgos Lanthimos’s The Favourite takes the lead with 12 nominations. It is nominated in the categories of Best Film, Outstanding British Film, Director, Original Screenplay, Leading Actress for Olivia Colman’s role as Queen Anne, two Supporting Actress nominations for Emma Stone and Rachel Weisz, Cinematography, Editing, Production Design, Costume Design and Make-up & Hair.
Alongside The Favourite, Spike Lee’s BlacKkKlansman, Peter Farrelly’s Green Book, Alfonso Cuaron’s Roma and Bradley Cooper’s A Star Is Born are all nominated in the category of Best Film. Roma and A Star Is Born each have seven nominations, whereas BlacKkKlansman has five, and Green Book has four.
Bohemian Rhapsody, which was such a huge box office hit in the U. K. and the rest of the world, has seven nominations. Its main nominations are in the categories of Outstanding British Film, Leading Actor for Rami Malek, Cinematography, and Editing.
