UPDATE 6:56pm EST: Eurogamer have updated their article and are reporting that the company behind the Fortnite Live festival have been forced to stop trading.
The update was sourced from an email sent to all customers of the unfavorable festival, which was ‘forwarded to Eurogamer by an aggrieved party’. The email was from Shaun Lord, the head of Exciting Events Limited, which is the company responsible for the festival.
In the email, Lord said that “the vast majority of children loved Fornite Live Norwich”, but that Epic Games had ‘forced the shut down’ of already planned future events and told the company to take down all promotional material.
Lord continues by saying that Epic Games’ legal action has further caused Exciting Events Limited to “cease all trading activities immediately”, effectively shutting the company down.
It’s understood that all of the company’s assets will be liquidated and split amongst creditors, including any customers that asked for a refund before the event’s Facebook page was shut down. It’s not currently known what will happen to other event goers.
