Félicien Kabuga was living under a fake identity outside Paris when he was taken into custody.
Félicien Kabuga, who is alleged to have played a major role in inciting the Rwandan Genocide, was arrested in a suburb outside Paris Saturday morning after evading authorities for 26 years.
“The arrest of Félicien Kabuga today is a reminder that those responsible for genocide can be brought to account, even twenty-six years after their crimes,” said Serge Brammertz, the chief prosecutor of the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals, a United Nations body that handles war crimes cases from Rwanda and the former Yugoslavia.
