Senators questioned top Trump public health officials at a Thursday hearing on vaccine pricing.
Senate appropriators on Thursday expressed concern about whether the government was doing enough to ensure that coronavirus vaccines developed with federal assistance are made affordable.
Several Democrats charged the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority weakened language on pricing and patents in contracts the agency struck with manufacturers of candidate vaccines, including AstraZeneca, Johnson & Johnson, Moderna, Genentech and Regeneron.
Sen. Roy Blunt (R-Mo.), chair of the appropriations health subcommittee, questioned top Trump public health officials at a hearing about whether vaccine makers have any obligation to ensure that their products are available at a reasonable price.
