Mukherjee was in a critical condition on ventilator at a hospital after undergoing a brain surgery on August 10.
Veteran Congress leader and former President Pranab Mukherjee died at the Indian Army’s Research and Referral Hospital in New Delhi on Monday. He was 84. “With a Heavy Heart, this is to inform you that my father Shri #PranabMukherjee has just passed away inspite of the best efforts of Doctors of RR Hospital & prayers,duas & prarthanas from people throughout India,” his son Abhijit Mukherjee announced on Twitter.
