Here’s how Orange County’s cases compared by month for August and July.
The Orange County Health Care Agency reported 287 new cases of the coronavirus as of Tuesday, Sept.1, bringing the cumulative total of positive tests to 48,825 cases. An estimated 11,434 new cases have been reported in the last 30 days. There were eight new deaths reported in Orange County on Tuesday, raising the death toll to 988 people. The data on deaths in the county is compiled from death certificates or gathered through the course of case investigations and can take weeks to process, officials say. The most recent death was on Aug.27. Of the 988 deaths countywide,372 were skilled nursing facility residents,67 were in assisted living facilities and one was listed as homeless. The county’s breakdown of deaths by age is as follows: It is estimated that about 85 percent of the cumulative reported cases, or 41,860 people as of Tuesday, have recovered.
