A spectator bug in CS:GO that has been abused since 2016 has been revealed and a number of top-level coaches have admitted to using it.
Many high-level coaches in the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) professional scene have admitted to abusing a bug in the spectator mode to give their teams an unfair advantage in matches. Some instances of this have been found as far back as 2016, and now the Esports Integrity Commission has opened an inquiry into the cheating scandal. The bug in question allowed coaches to get an unrestricted camera view anywhere on the map, which would allow them to see where the enemy was and how they were playing. They could then relay this information to the team to give them a massively unfair advantage. It would almost be like knowing the exact play an NFL team was about to make. Tournament organizer ESL first revealed the usage of the bug in their events late last month, where they announced that three coaches had been banned for abusing it.
