The Florida Department of Health Monday reported one more person has died of COVID-19 on the Treasure Coast and 86 more people have been diagnosed. The Martin County death brings the region’s toll to 637 people since the pandemic’s onset in March, FDOH data shows. The new cases — 34 in St. Lucie,34 in Indian River and 18 in Martin — bring the region’s total to 19,332 cases since the pandemic’s onset in March, the data shows. Monday, there were 69 people admitted to local hospitals with a primary COVID-19 diagnosis: 41 in St. Lucie,19 in Indian River and 9 in Martin, according to the Agency for Health Care Administration’s hospital data. That’s down from 68 Friday. Virus hospitalizations in St. Lucie County are up 40.6% since Oct.18, according to a data analysis by Jason Salemi, a professor of epidemiology at University of South Florida. The DOH Monday also verified 58 new deaths and 3,924 new cases throughout Florida, bringing the statewide total to 17,179 deaths and 847,821 cases since the pandemic hit in March, data shows.
