There is not enough supply to make a mass COVID-19 vaccination clinic, Polk officials say

Almost 200,000 doses of the coronavirus vaccine have been administered in Iowa so far. The state will expand its COVID-19 vaccine distribution Feb. 1.
Polk County does not have enough COVID-19 vaccine doses to make a mass vaccination clinic viable right now, county officials said Tuesday afternoon. Polk County Health Department Director Helen Eddy said the county has received multiple inquiries and offers about such a clinic, but at this stage in the vaccine rollout, working with clinics in the metro areas makes more sense. „We have many community pharmacies and clinics, waiting to receive vaccine and begin vaccinations,“ Eddy said during a weekly stakeholders meeting. „If and when we have all of our community partners vaccinating at full capacity and still have additional vaccine inventory, we would then consider opening a mass vaccination clinic.
