After the release of a 2018 inspection report that warned of “major structural damage” in the Surfside, Fla., condo tower that collapsed Thursday, the mayor of Miami-Dade county announced Saturday an immediate audit of older high-rises, as search and rescue efforts were slowed by a fire emerging from the wreckage. Four people are known to have died following Thursday’s collapse of the 12-story condominium tower, while 120 people have been accounted for, according to the Miami Herald.
