At that time, GM reported a 34% sales decline from the second quarter of 2019 when it sold 746,659 vehicles. Still, demand has been stronger than expected following the pandemic shutdowns of 2020. Experts and automakers don’t see it slowing as the industry continues to battle a semiconductor part shortage that’s leading to tight inventories and encouraging customers to buy now.
