Progressive House lawmakers on Saturday urged President Joe Biden to extend a nationwide eviction moratorium before it expires at midnight, after Democrats in Congress failed to muster the votes to renew it themselves. Eight Democrats led by Reps. Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts and Cori Bush of Missouri told Biden in a letter that a looming eviction crisis demanded „an urgent government response.” The lawmakers who signed the letter included Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, Rashida Tlaib of Michigan, Pramila Jayapal of Washington, Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, Jimmy Gomez of California and Jamaal Bowman of New York.
