Reliance Jio stated that both companies have begun testing the JioPhone smartphone with a limited set of users for further refinement.
Reliance, earlier this year at its annual general meeting (AGM), unveiled the new JioPhone Next. The telecom giant partnered with Google to develop a budget 4G smartphone running a customised version of Android. At the AGM, Chairman Mukesh Ambani said that the company’s new smartphone will launch on September 10 in India. On the day of the launch, both Jio and Google have announced that the launch has been pushed further. The press release issued by both companies states that the smartphone will launch before Diwali. It further stated that both companies have begun testing the JioPhone smartphone with a limited set of users for further refinement. The two tech giants are working on ensuring that the device is available for purchase before Diwali.
