The actor died of complications from Parkinson’s Disease
Dwayne Hickman, the actor best known as Dobie from “The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis,” died on Sunday morning. The was 87 years old. According to a spokesperson for the Hickman family, the actor “died peacefully, surrounded by family, at home in Los Angeles.” Hickman died due to complications from Parkinson’s disease. Hickman’s earliest screen appearances included “The Boy with the Green Hair,” though he made his film debut as an extra in “The Grapes of Wrath.” But his breakout role came with “The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis,” alongside Bob Denver, who later played Gilligan on “Gilligan’s Island.
