„Blonde,“ starring Ana de Armas as Hollywood icon Marilyn Monroe, premiered in select theaters on September 16. Fans hoping to watch the movie at home, however, don’t have to wait long. The film will stream exclusively on Netflix starting September 28.
„Blonde“ is a fictionalized take on actress Marilyn Monroe’s life based on the book of the same name by Joyce Carol Oates. The movie follows Norma Jeane Mortenson’s transformation into the movie star Marilyn Monroe throughout Hollywood in the 1950s. As Monroe’s career skyrockets, „Blonde“ explores how behind-the-scenes exploitation and addictions contrast with the star’s on-screen appearance.
From director and writer Andrew Dominik, the NC-17-rated movie is primarily shot in black-and-white with certain segments in color. The supporting cast includes Adrien Brody („The Pianist“), Bobby Cannavale („Third Watch“), Xavier Samuel („Adore“), and Julianne Nicholson („August: Osage County“).
„Blonde“ is now screening in select movie theaters in New York City. The film had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival on September 8, and it will expand to more theaters in the US on September 23 before hitting Netflix on September 28.
