Protests erupted across China throughout the weekend, including at universities and in Shanghai against the country’s stringent zero-Covid policy, after ten people were killed and other nine injured a deadly fire at an apartment block in Urumqi, the capital of the far western region of Xinjiang. Lockdown measures delayed firefighters from reaching the victims. in China’s biggest cities people called for freedom and democracy.
