Despite several decades having now passed since WCW was absorbed by the WWE, many people still have fond memories of this once-great wrestling promotion. Whether that be kicking back to watch an episode of Nitro on a Monday night or playing one of the many great WCW video games with a few friends, it’s difficult not to crack a smile when reminiscing about this plucky underdog.

With this in mind, it should come as no surprise to learn that some WWE 2K23 players have been recreating some of the promotion’s biggest wrestlers in the game. The best custom Superstars based on former WCW wrestlers show that the promotion has not been forgotten and allow some of the younger WWE 2K23 players to get a pretty good idea of what the franchise was all about.
Better known by some as his Mr. Perfect ring name, Curt Hennig is one of wrestling’s all-time greats. He began his career in 1980, spending time with numerous promotions throughout the course of the next two decades. Many of his best moments came with the WWE, though he did enjoy a hugely successful spell with WCW as one of The Four Horsemen. During that time, he won both the WCW United States Heavyweight and WCW World Tag Team Championships before his premature death in February of 2003.
Diamond Dallas Page spent more than a decade with WCW, becoming a Triple Crown Champion in the process. He did so in the space of just eighteen months, which, at the time, was a new record, though several Superstars have since achieved the feat in less time, including Bret Hart, Goldberg, and Chris Benoit. DDP later spend time with both WWE and AEW but was unable to replicate the success that he’d found while signed with World Championship Wrestling.
