The Dallas Mavericks are acquiring forward Grant Williams in a four-year, $54 million sign-and-trade deal with the Boston Celtics. The agreement is part of a multi-team trade that includes the San Antonio Spurs, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium.
As part of the deal, Dallas is sending forward Reggie Bullock and an unprotected 2030 draft pick swap to San Antonio. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Boston and Dallas will receive two second-round draft picks.
Acquiring Williams in a sign-and-trade deal is financially lucrative for the Mavericks. According to NBA insider Marc Stein, it allows them to preserve their Mid-Level Exception and use it to pursue free agents.
