Pakistan’s former prime minister Imran Khan has been arrested. Police surrounded Khan’s home Saturday in the eastern city of Lahore and detained him. A court in Islamabad sentenced him to three years in jail and disqualified him from politics for five years for “corrupt practices” according the constitution. The court also imposed a fine of around $355. He was transferred to a high-security prison notorious for its harsh conditions. Khan was investigated about allegations that he had bought several valuable state gifts, including an antique watch given to him by the Saudi crown prince, Mohammed bin Salman, and sold them for undeclared profit.
