Both Haley and her son were not at home during the incident.
Authorities in South Carolina responded to a bogus emergency call at Nikki Haley’s South Carolina home last month, allegedly to investigate reports of that a man had shot a woman and was preparing to harm himself.
The false report, known as swatting, has become a growing problem for high profile Americans and politicians of both parties and can result in deadly accidents.
The swatting attack took place on Dec. 30 in the town of Kiawah Island.
