Minecraft is coming to Netflix as a new streaming series from the animation studio behind Sonic Prime, Ninjago, and Carmen Sandiego.
Netflix and Mojang Studios are bringing Minecraft to streaming as a new CG-animated series, the companies announced Thursday. The Minecraft series will feature an original story with new characters, Netflix said in a news release, “showing the world of Minecraft in a new light.”
In a brief announcement that coincides with Minecraft’s 15th anniversary, Netflix pitched the animated series as a pairing of the “best selling game of all time [and] the biggest streamer in the world.
