Origins are making a return in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, as players will be able to choose from a list of six unique backgrounds.
Not only will players get to pick an origin for their Rook in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, but they will be able to choose six distinct options, many of which have been featured in previous games in the franchise. Ahead of the full gameplay reveal for Dragon Age: The Veilguard on June 11, 2024, fans were treated to key information from BioWare about what to expect in the next Dragon Age chapter.
The Veilguard will see the return of the Inquisitor, who will likely have a prominent role during the eventual confrontation with Solas. However, while players will be able to fully customize the Inquisitor’s appearance and even select the major decisions that will carry over from Dragon Age: Inquisition, they will also be able to choose a background for Rook out of six possible origins. These origins will likely affect dialogue options, and even how certain moments in Dragon Age: The Veilguard play out.
The seven companions of Dragon Age: The Veilguard all have ties to a different faction that operates in northern Thedas. According to the developers, the same is true for Rook, who will be able to belong to one of six factions – seemingly regardless of their race or class. Rook can be a human, elf, dwarf, or qunari protagonist, and players will be able to further personalize their story by making them a Grey Warden, Antivan Crow, or Shadow Dragon.
