Apple is adding a ton of great new features for your Apple Watch with watchOS 11. Here’s when to expect it.
Apple’s WWDC 2024 has come and gone, and with it came a lot of big new software updates — from iOS 18 to macOS Sequoia. Not only did Apple show off its new software across multiple platforms but it also announced Apple Intelligence, its new suite of AI tools.
Though watchOS 11 doesn’t have Apple Intelligence, it still has a ton of new features — including more customization for Activity Rings and even rest days, overnight vitals, training load tracking, and much more.

Similar to iOS 18, Apple released watchOS 11 as a developer beta for those who want to try it out ahead of its public release this fall.
For many years, Apple only allowed developer betas to be downloaded and installed by those who signed up for its $99-per-year Apple Developer program. However, last year Apple shifted course and allowed anyone to grab the developer betas as long as they had a free Apple Developer account.
These betas aren’t for the faint of heart. Unless you are a developer, we would definitely hold off on installing watchOS 11 right now, especially if you only have one Apple Watch. The watchOS 11 developer beta is designed for developers to build and test apps.
