The summer doldrums hit Disney+, but here’s what we think is worth watching this month
Every month we go through the announcements from Disney+, and try to pick out content that we find appealing and think you’ll love. Some months are easier than others, and July 2024 is looking especially dire. The Acolyte wraps up, but we get no new Star Wars or Marvel content. Instead, the scant slate of new stuff includes a bunch of shark documentaries, Bluey, and a few other things. Here are our picks for the best new movies and series streaming on Disney+ in July.Sharkfest (July 1)
The start of the month brings a package of shark-related specials to the streaming service. Some of the most interesting stuff includes Sharks Gone Viral, which dives deep into the stories of marine animals caught on video, as well as Shark vs. Ross Edgley, where the ultra-marathon swimmer tests his mettle against the ocean’s peak predator. Why Sharkfest? Who knows, but they’re into it.Descendants: Rise Of Red (July 12)
This is one of those popular franchises that you’ll simply never hear about if you’re not in the target audience.
