Renauld White, who appeared on ‚Guiding Light,‘ has died at 80.
Actor Renauld White, who gained fame in the ’60s as one of the first Black models to reach mainstream success and who reached fame as Guiding Light‘s William Reynolds has passed away. He was 80.
White’s passing was confirmed by designer Jeffrey Banks to Women’s Wear Daily. White reportedly passed away Wednesday (June 26) at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City. The cause of death was not confirmed.
White “was a groundbreaker,” Banks told the outlet. “There were very few Black models at the time. He really broke barriers. When they had a party for him in Newark for his 50-year anniversary in the fashion industry, he was very proud of the progress and how he opened the doors for other people.”
White led a successful career in television and film. The actor famously appeared in CBS’ Guiding Light between 1986 and 1992. He also appeared in the 2014 movie Gun Hill and the 2017 horror, Central Park.
According to White’s official obituary, the actor also appeared in One Life to Live, The Stepford Wives, General Hospital, and Inside Job.
