Former President Donald Trump scored another win in his federal classified documents case on Saturday, as the Trump-nominated judge overseeing the case granted another delay sought by his attorneys following the Supreme Court’s momentous decision last month to grant partial presidential immunity.Key Facts

Judge Aileen Cannon granted a temporary stay on a July 8 deadline for expert disclosures and a July 10 deadline for the defense to disclose information to prosecutors, and established a July 21 deadline for prosecutors and defense attorneys to submit briefs on how the issue of presidential immunity should play into the case.

Cannon’s order comes after the Supreme Court’s 6-3 ruling on Trump’s claim of immunity, which said Trump—along with all presidents—generally enjoy “absolute immunity” from charges brought over official acts under their “core constitutional powers,” and “presumptive immunity” for other acts taken in office.

Following that ruling, Trump’s attorneys asked Cannon on Friday for additional time to file briefings on how the immunity ruling could affect the documents case and to pause pretrial activity until the immunity issue is resolved, arguing a resolution is “necessary to minimize the adverse consequences to the institution of the Presidency arising from this unconstitutional investigation and prosecution.
