Black Myth: Wukong is an ambitious project, widely regarded as the first AAA video game from China — and rightly so. While the game may not offer in-depth exploration or a vast array of weapons like Elden Ring, it does feature a ridiculous number of boss battles. These encounters include hidden, optional, and mandatory fights, adding to the challenge and excitement.
The guide below provides a comprehensive walkthrough of the first region in Chapter 1 — Forest of Wolves. It covers everything you can experience in the area, from meditation spots and chests to hidden items and optional boss battles.

When you start the game, you’ll be presented with a lengthy cutscene before being thrust into a battle with the game’s introductory boss, Erland, The Sacred Divinity. Don’t worry — while he has a wide range of moves and a large health pool, you can easily defeat him, since you can’t die in this fight.
After you defeat him, another cutscene will play, and you’ll be plunged into the game’s first chapter, Black Cloud, Red Fire, which takes place in the Black Wind Mountain region (specifically in the Forest of Wolves subregion). Reaching First Keeper’s Shrine
From the starting point, defeat the two enemies ahead of you. This is the tutorial area, so take your time to familiarize yourself with the controls. After defeating them, continue along the linear path, eliminating any enemies you encounter. Eventually, you’ll come across a chest — open it to claim its loot.
You’ll also notice a ray of sparkling light guiding you forward. Follow it to reach your first Keeper’s Shrine. You will automatically interact with it when you get close (in future encounters, interacting with Keeper’s Shrines will require player input). After a brief cutscene, you will receive the Incense Trail Talisman.
If you pre-ordered Black Myth: Wukong or purchased the Deluxe Edition, interact with the Shrine again, navigate to the Trailblazer’s Gift tab, and claim any extra items. Be sure to equip them by opening the Equipment tab.
