Carrie Underwood is replacing Katy Perry on season 23 of ‚American Idol, joining current judges Lionel Richie and Luke Bryant.
Carrie Underwood is heading back to American Idol to replace longtime judge Katy Perry for season 23.
The news was confirmed by ABC on Thursday, August 1in a Instagram video that followed Underwood, 41, from her start on Idol to stardom and beyond.

Home-grown superstar @carrieunderwood! #CUonIDOL“, The network captioned the minute long clip, which broke down all of Underwood’s accolades over the years, including 85 million records sold worldwide, 28 no. 1 singles, 8 Grammy Awards, 17 American Music Awards, 10 People’s Choice Awards and seven CMA awards.
This prompted fans to take to social media to support the Oklahoma native in her next adventure and the public had strong feelings about Underwood’s comeback.
