Users have been long anticipating Google to adopt the Qi12 charging standard launched last year, but the Pixel 9 series did not adopt it
With the launch of the Pixel 9 series, users were eagerly anticipating not just the new upgrades it would be bringing forward but also the hope for the incorporation of the Qi12 wireless charging that is based on Apple’s MagSafe technology. While the charging standard was launched in 2023, it did not make it to the Pixel 8 series. It was expected that Google might decide to step into the bandwagon with the upcoming series, but much to the tech community’s dismay, this did not happen, and the company has explained why.The Pixel 9 series did not adopt the Qi2 wireless charging as Google does not see a point in making the change right now
Since the latest Qi12 charging standard was launched a year ago and introduced magnetic alignment, which mirrored Apple’s Magsafe technology, users have been waiting for the Android flagship devices to be released with wireless charging.
