Vice President Kamala Harris has a 3-point lead over Donald Trump in a presidential matchup between the rival candidates according to a new survey conducted by SurveyUSA.
The poll of 1,510 likely voters in the United States, conducted between August 2 and 4, found 48 percent would vote for Harris if an election were held „today“, versus 45 percent for Trump. A further 3 percent said they would back other candidates while 4 percent said they were undecided.
Harris has led Trump in a number of polls since she became the presumptive Democratic presidential candidate shortly after President Joe Biden dropped out of the race and endorsed her on July 21. According to Politico, Harris is expected to announce her running mate at some point on Tuesday after which the pair is to make a joint appearance at a rally in Philadelphia in the evening.
The SurveyUSA poll gave Trump a 13-point lead among white voters, while Harris had a 53-point lead with Black voters and a 19-point lead with Latino and Asian voters. The Republican nominee polled best with voters aged 18-34, where he led by 4 points. Harris had a 10-point lead among voters aged 35-49, a 1-point advantage with voters aged 50-64 and a 4-point lead with voters 65 and over.
