The Taylor Wessing Photo Portrait Prize opens 14 November 2024 at the National Portrait Gallery in London and will run until 16 February 2025.
Four photographers have been shortlisted from 55 for the Taylor Wessing Photo Portrait Prize 2024, the prestigious annual photography award organised by the National Portrait Gallery, London. The works by the shortlisted artists were chosen from 4,847 submissions entered by 1713 photographers from 50 countries. Selected by a panel of judges, the four shortlisted photographers are: Adam Ferguson; Tjitske Sluis; Jesse Navarre Vos and Steph Wilson.
The winner will be announced 12 November 2024. The first prize winner of the competition will receive £15,000, second prize will receive £3000 and both third prize winners will receive £2000. A commission to the value of £8,000 will be awarded to one of the shortlisted photographers. The photographer chosen for the commission will create an artwork that will form part of the world’s largest collection of portraiture at the National Portrait Gallery. Serena Brown, winner of the inaugural commission prize in 2023, will unveil her new portrait for the Collection at this year’s award ceremony in November.
The four photographers’ works, along with photographs from 51 other artists will be on display in the Taylor Wessing Photo Portrait Prize 2024 exhibition from 14 November 2024 until 16 February 2025.
