The Incredibles director Brad Bird is back at a time when Inside Out 2 made $1.5 billion and Disney needs a hit. But when will it come out?
Future Toy Story movies are almost inevitable at this point — Toy Story 5 is slated for June 19, 2026, by the way — but here’s one Pixar sequel we should have seen coming: The Incredibles 3, revealed to be in development out of the D23 Expo.
Pixar is the rare studio under the Disney banner to hold tight to a balance of original and franchised storytelling. The creative spark from the heydey of the 3D CG animation outfit is still alive in recent films like Soul, Turning Red, Luca, and the upcoming Hoppers, which makes exercises like Toy Story 4, Lightyear, and (the admittedly very good) Inside Out 2 all the much easier to give a pass.
