With the killing of Hezbollah’s leader, Hassan Nasrallah, Israel has shown its capability to kill its foes (“Time’s up on Israeli patience,” Sept. 29).
We are witnessing a new Israel, one that will no longer have a measured response. It has the motivation to impose its will on its enemies.

The IDF’s attack on Hezbollah’s headquarters eliminated not only its chief, Nasrallah, but also many other senior commanders.
But the reality is that this will not end the war. New leaders for Hezbollah will emerge and, ultimately, Iran’s proxies will continue to attack Israel.

I don’t think many people will mourn Nasrallah’s death.
But many will mourn the consequences of Israel’s strikes on Lebanon, which have killed numerous civilians and displaced thousands more. They will also mourn the escalation that this strike will cause, which could lead to a larger conflict between Israel and Lebanon that kills even more civilians.
