Palestinians said the school was sheltering displaced people but the Israeli army said it was being used as a command center by Hamas.
An strike on a school sheltering displaced people in southern Gaza City on Saturday killed at least 22 people, the Hamas-run Health Ministry said. Meanwhile, Israel said the attack targeted a Hamas militant group command center.
The strike at the school in the Zeitoun area of Gaza City injured another 30, the Gaza health ministry said, adding that most of those killed were women and children.
The Israeli army said it struck a Hamas „command and control center, which was embedded inside a compound that previously served“ as a school, repeating an accusation that the group uses civilian facilities for military purposes.
