Houston Texans head coach says that Azeez Al-Shaair’s brutal hit on Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence isn’t „representative“ of his team.
Texans coach DeMeco Ryans has publicly condemned the hit by linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair that took out Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence earlier today, saying it was „not what we’re coaching.“

„It’s unfortunate with the hit with Azeez“, Ryans said in a post-game presser. „That’s not what we’re coaching. We want to be smart in everything we do and not hurt the team. . . . We just have to be smarter when the quarterback is going down. It’s an unfortunate play.“
Lawrence was injured during a run in the second quarter, as he slid at the end of a 6-yard gain, only for Al-Shaair to strike him in the head, driving his padded elbow into Lawrence’s head and neck area.
The hit left Lawrence visibly in pain and slow to get up, raising concerns that he may have suffered a concussion.
